Storytelling Workshop at George Williams College

WILLIAMS BAY, Wis. — For all teachers and recreation leaders who struggle with how to reach children in this TV dominated world, George Williams College of Aurora University is offering a workshop, Storytelling in the Classroom on Friday, April 25, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This workshop offers two storytelling subjects:  “Storytelling in the Classroom,” which gives teachers a broad overview on the value of storytelling, teaches a simple story and offers some practical tips on how to get started, and “The Magic of Story-Spelling,” which shows how sign language and simple dramatics can be combined to maximize language learning.

The event will be held in the Winston Paul Educational Center, room 101, on the GWC campus located at 350 Constance Blvd. in Williams Bay. The cost is $110 and includes lunch. CEUs and college credit are also available.

The workshop will be led by Chris Visonhaler, who brings a wealth of experience to her work as a storyteller, musician and arts consultant. Her many years in the classroom enable her to connect directly with curriculum and the day-to-day needs of the classroom teacher and recreation leader.

For more information or to register for the workshop, call 262-245-8533 or e-mail cnass@aurora.edu.
