George Williams College hosts Steve Otten, Executive Director of The Challenger Learning Center

WILLIAMS BAY, Wis. — For anyone interested in scientific exploration and the world of outer space, George Williams College of Aurora University will host a free fireside chat with Steve Otten, executive director of The Challenger Learning Center in Woodstock, IL. This discussion is part of GWC’s continuing Bistro Speaker Series.

The Challenger Center in Woodstock offers participants an opportunity to go on simulated space missions, operate a Boeing 727 flight simulator, experience building robots and many other programs. More than 50 Challenger Learning Centers are located throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

The program will be held Thursday, Feb. 28 in The Bistro in the Beasley Campus Center, on the campus located at 350 Constance Blvd. in Williams Bay. There will be a reception starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by Otten’s presentation from 6 -7p.m.

Members of the local community, along with GWC students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in an informal and engaging evening exploring the business of science and space exploration.

“We strive to offer our MBA students, as well as the local community, opportunities for personal interaction with local business leaders,” said David Frost, assistant professor of business at George Williams College. “Steve Otten’s work with The Challenger Center will expose our students to a successfully run non-profit operation that promotes innovative thinking through science and space exploration to our next generation of leaders.”

For those interested, a visit to Yerkes Observatory for a hands-on experience with the world-famous Yerkes telescope is available after the presentation. Reservations are required and the fee is $25 per person.

The Bistro Speaker Series continues June 12 with Michael J. Corey, an international executive recruiter and an experienced lecturer on the powers of executive leadership.
