George Williams College Announces Auditions for Music by the Lake Production of Die FledermausWILLIAMS BAY, Wis. — George Williams College of Aurora University announces auditions for Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss, a Music by the Lake production with full orchestra to be performed Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27. All roles are currently open with paid choral positions also available. Auditions will be held over a three day period. The first auditions will be held Saturday, February 2, 2:00-6:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 3, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., at the Chicago College of the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University located at 430 S. Michigan Avenue, Room #730, 7th Floor, Chicago, IL. All those attending should use the Wabash Avenue entrance. The final audition will be held Monday, February 18, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church located at 1511 Church Street, Wauwatosa, WI. Christine Flasch, executive director of Music by the Lake, will conduct the auditions. Participants are asked to bring a current resume and headshot and be prepared to sing one aria in English, preferably from Die Fledermaus or another operetta. An accompanist will be provided and a second aria may be requested. All those auditioning should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment and be prepared to sing. Music by the Lake is a concert series that was originally presented in the 1950s and '60s, and featured top performing artists such as Isaac Stern, Robert Merrill and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Aurora University revived Music by the Lake in July 2001 with the vision of providing area residents, tourists, and arts lovers with enjoyable entertainment on the shores of Geneva Lake at George Williams College. The 2007 season included Five By Design with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra in the opening night performance, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Romberg’s “The New Moon” in an original Music by the Lake production, and a sold-out final performance by The 5th Dimension.
