Recreation Administration Program at George Williams College Granted Continuing Accreditation

Williams Bay, Wis., January 7, 2008 —The undergraduate Recreation Administration program at George Williams College of Aurora University has been granted continuing accreditation by the National Park and Recreation Association, through October 2012.

“Our Recreation Administration program is nationally recognized and continues to maintain a standard of excellence that is acknowledged by our continuing accreditation,” said Rita Yerkes, dean of the School of Experiential Leadership at George Williams College.

The Recreation Administration program is part of the School of Experiential Leadership at GWC and offers a bachelor’s and master’s degree program.

Recreation administration involves directing and managing the programs and business operation systems of recreation and leisure settings such as park districts, community recreation centers, private clubs, resorts and youth organizations.  Of the 350 recreation administration programs in colleges across the country, only 110 are fully accredited. GWC is one of only two accredited programs in Wisconsin with this year marking the 25th year of continuing accreditation for GWC.
