George Williams College Golf Course Hosts Breast Cancer Fundraiser

WILLIAMS BAY, Wis., Oct. 16, 2007 — George Williams College of Aurora University located at 350 Constance Blvd. in Williams Bay hosted a “Rally for the Cure” nine-hole best ball golf scramble presented by Golf for Women Magazine on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the campus golf course.

Sixteen players participated at George Williams College Golf Course and included students, staff, faculty, alumni, administrators, and board members. As part of the 9-hole scramble, there were several contests for both women and men.

Winners were: Cindy Schendel, DeKalb, Ill., and Glenn Scoggins, Barrington, Ill, (closest-to-the-pin); Rita Yerkes, Genoa, Ill. and Jude Desnoyer, Williams Bay, Wis., (longest drive); David Emanuelson, DeKalb, Ill., (longest putt); and Brad Benne, Williams Bay, Wis., (straightest drive). Two teams tied for the lowest team score at one under par. Team one was Ted Parge, Kacie Parge, Derek D’Auria and Dick Kearney and the second team was Rhonda Dart, Carol Hammerle, Cindy Schendel and Connie Fox.

Aurora Health Care sponsored a foursome of GWC students: Suzanne Mayerchak, Cole Guetschow, Jude Desnoyer and Brad Benne. Five local volunteers donated their time and effort to make the event possible: Carol Carstensen, Barb Ward, George Kalivoda, Suzy Pollard and Cole Guetschow.

Proceeds from the event were more than $800 and benefited the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.
