George Williams College To Host Community Open House, Building Dedications and Reunion Oct. 27
WILLIAMS BAY, Wis., Oct. 12, 2007 —George Williams College of Aurora University, 350 Constance Blvd. in Williams Bay, will host a community open house and reunion Saturday Oct. 27.
Highlights of the day include a dedication of new facilities, an academic open house, a book signing and a variety of other activities and events.
"We are excited to host this community open house and reunion on the George Williams College campus," said Barb Calvert, Director of Alumni Relations at Aurora University. "GWC alumni from as far back as 1937 will be attending and we are looking forward to seeing former and current faculty and staff and community members."
Events open Saturday with campus tours at 10 and 10:30 a.m. and at 1, 1:30 and 2 p.m. Self-guided walking tours and tours guided by golf cart are available.

Community open house events begin at 11:30 a.m. with dedication ceremonies for Beasley Campus Center, Meyer Hall and Emery Lodge, historic buildings that honor the spirit and legacy of the campus. Prospective students are invited to an academic open house from 1 to 3 p.m. in rooms 101 and 102 in the Winston Paul Educational Center. Faculty and staff will be available to talk with students about academic degree programs in business, communication, education, social work, nursing and recreation administration.
Campus tours continue in the afternoon with three additional events scheduled from 1 to 1:30 p.m. "GWC Academic Profile: Then and Now" will be presented by Bill Duncan, vice president of GWC and chief academic officer and a '68 GWC alum, in the Winston Paul Educational Center; a reunion for social work alumni, current students, and current and former faculty and staff will be held in Lower Lewis Hall; and a gathering for recreation administration program alumni will be in room B of the Winston Paul Center.
From 1 to 4 p.m., a book signing will be held in Lewis Hall. Sandy Alcorn of Glen Ellyn, Ill., author of Strong Roots: A Group Memoir of George Williams College, will sign her book. The book recounts stories of generations who have passed through George Williams College for more than 100 years.
Also from 1 to 4 p.m., the GWC archives will be open in Brandenburg Hall.
At 2 p.m., tours of Yerkes Observatory will be offered. Boat tours of Geneva Lake begin at 3 p.m. The fee is $10. Reservations are required. Call (630) 844-5486 or 800-377-2782.
A number of events for alumni are scheduled as well: A gathering for Class of 1957 alumni is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the Weidensall Administration Building.
A reception for alumni will be held from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. at the Beasley Campus Center. Reservations are required.
A banquet for alumni will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Beasley Campus Center. Tickets are $25 per person. Reservations are required. A camp fire will follow the dinner.
