George Williams College Sponsors Breast Cancer Awareness Golf Fundraiser

WILLIAMS BAY, WIS., Sept. 6, 2007 — George Williams College of Aurora University located at Highway 67 and North Lakeshore Drive in Williams Bay will host a “Rally for the Cure” nine-hole best ball golf scramble on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the campus golf course presented by Golf for Women Magazine.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.

“This fundraiser is designed to acknowledge breast cancer awareness month and provide our recreation administration students with the opportunity to plan and assist with a special event,” said Rita Yerkes, dean of the School of Experiential Leadership at George Williams College. “Hosting this event presented by the Golf for Women Magazine is an effort to make more people aware of the continued work needed to conquer this disease that has touched so many people at AU and throughout the community.”

Teams of four players can be formed in advance or individuals who wish to participate may be placed on a team at their request. The registration fee is $75 per person and includes nine holes of golf, a golf cart, complimentary gift, and lunch. Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the event for longest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt.

The registration deadline for team sign up is Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007. To register or for more information, call Suzanne Mayrchak at 262-245-8538.

Throughout the season, the public is invited to play the 18-hole George Williams College Golf Course. Course hours are dawn to dusk seven days a week. Daily and season rates are available for adults, seniors (age 65 and better), and juniors (under age 18).

Gas-powered carts, pull carts, and clubs are available for rental. The course features watered tees, greens and fairways, and a clubhouse with equipment and refreshments for purchase.

For tee-time reservations or more information call 262-245-8650.
