George Williams College to Offer Spanish for the Educator Class Beginning August 28

Williams Bay, Wis., August 8, 2007 — George Williams College of Aurora University in Williams Bay will offer a Spanish for the Educator class on the campus from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays from August 28 through October 16. The class is designed for teachers with no Spanish speaking experience.

Linda Olbinski, dean of the School of Professional Studies said, “This is a professional development class in which teachers can learn everyday classroom Spanish and immediately incorporate it into their own classroom settings. Since there is a growing number of Spanish speaking students in our local districts, we see this as an opportunity to help meet a need.”

Course participants will receive three semester hours of credit for the class. The tuition rate for professional development graduate education courses is $225 per credit hour.

Alejandro Furio, a native Spanish speaker, will teach the class. Furio has been teaching educators Spanish for more than five years. He has a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is currently a Spanish teacher at Badger High School in Lake Geneva, WI.
