Aurora University instructor publishes article

Williams Bay, Wis., September 1, 2006 — Susan DeRoche, assistant professor of education and university supervisor of student teachers at George Williams College of Aurora University at Williams Bay, has published an article in “Phi Delta Kappan” magazine.

DeRoche, an Antioch, Ill. resident, published “An Adventure in Problem Based Learning” in the magazine’s May issue.

In her article, DeRoche describes a problem based-approach to learning that can prepare today’s students for their futures.

Her 33-year education career includes teaching in both mainstream and special education classrooms, special-education administration, and 18 years as an elementary-school principal.

DeRoche earned a bachelor's degree at Valparaiso University, a master’s degree at Northern Illinois University, and an Ed.D. degree from the University of Illinois.
