George Williams College Academy slates spring music classesWilliams Bay, Wis., January 23, 2006 — Spring music classes for youth and adults will be offered by the Academy of the Arts at the George Williams College of Aurora University at 350 Constance Blvd. in Williams Bay. The Academy’s spring term is Feb. 13 to May 12. Classes are held in the Brandenburg studios. Offerings include Young Singers voice classes, Kindermusik, and private voice and piano study for youth and adults. Young Singers voice classes, for two age groups, offer small-group, beginning voice instruction focusing on solo repertoire, presentation, and musicianship. Students perform a recital to conclude the course. Level I, for ages 8-12, meets Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. Level II, for ages 13-16, is Wednesdays from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. Cost of each class is $175 and includes instruction, sheet music, accompaniment tape, and recital accompanist. Kindermusik® classes for ages newborn to seven are: Village (newborn to 18 months): Cock-A-Doodle-Moo! and Dew Drops are eight-week courses designed for infants and mothers or caregivers. The classes are designed to stimulate all areas of the brain by exploring the sights and sounds of various barnyard animals and colorful spring flowers. Classes meet Wednesdays from 8:45-9:30 a.m. or 2 to 2:45 p.m. Instructor: Lynetta Ivey-Reid. The cost is $220 and includes instruction, two sets of home materials, CDs, literature books and art banners. Our Time (18 months to 3): Away We Go! features 16 weeks of exploring things that “go!” People, animals, pull toys, tricycles, cars, and buses will be studied in an exploration of the world of transportation. Classes are Tuesdays from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. (taught by Kimberly Porter) or 6 to 6:45 p.m. (taught by Lynetta Ivey-Reid) and Wednesdays from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. (taught by Kimberly Porter) or 3 to 3:45 p.m.(taught by Lynetta Ivey-Reid). Cost is $220 and includes instruction, home materials, CDs, two music and movement books, train carrying case, and two harmonicas. Imagine That! (ages 3 to 4): Toys I Make, Trips I Take, a 15-week course, takes children to an imaginary toy shop filled with boats, trains, balls, jack-in-the-box and other toys. The class is Wednesdays from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. or 1 to 1:45 p.m. (both taught by Kimberly Porter). The fee of $225 includes instruction, home materials, CDs, backpack, and drum. Young Child Semester (ages 5 to 7): Two 15-week courses use the glockenspiel to broaden children’s musical experience. Students learn to keep a steady beat using simple percussion instruments and how to read and write musical notations. Young Child Semester I is Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Young Child Semester II is Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. (Kimberly Porter is the instructor). Cost is $245 and includes instruction, home materials, CDs, and glockenspiel. Individual instruction includes private voice or piano studies. The Academy provides the finest in private voice study with noted Academy Executive Director and former Metropolitan Opera soprano Christine Flasch. She is joined by instructors Rebecca Olthafer, Brianne Sura, Lynetta Ivey-Reid and Vera Bowser. Private piano study is available for students of all ages and performance levels.
