Spartan Named NIIC Player of the Week

AURORA, Ill. December 20, 2005 - Aurora University Spartan women’s basketball junior guard Naomi Guise (Springfield, IL/Southeast HS) was named the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference Player of the Week for the week ending December 18, 2005, by the NIIC Sports Information Directors.

Guise led the Spartans to a 1-1 week with a non-conference victory over North Park University, 64-61. In the win over North Park, Guise had a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds. On the week, Guise averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and three steals while shooting 50 percent (17-of-34) from the field.

In the early portion of the season, Guise leads the AU women in scoring and rebounding, with 14.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. She is also averaging 2.6 steals for the 3-8 Spartans.

Guise and the Spartan women’s basketball team are currently in Las Vegas for the D3 Desert Shootout. AU takes on Muskingum College at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, and either University of Texas – Dallas or Millsaps College on Thursday, December 22, 2005.
