Spartans Named Football All-Conference

AURORA, Ill. November 17, 2005 - After completing their first season under Head Coach Rich Duncan with a 5-5 overall record and 5-2 in the Illini-Badger Football Conference, the Aurora University Spartan football team placed numerous members on the 2005 IBFC All-Conference Teams.

Two Spartans were selected as the top players at their respective positions, as well as First-Team All-Conference. Senior defensive back Robbie Parry was Outstanding Defensive Back and senior wide receiver Joe Folliard was Outstanding Wide Receiver. On the season, Parry had 52 tackles, nine pass break-ups and three interceptions, while locking two kicks, forcing one fumble and recovering one fumble. Folliard concluded his career with a stellar season, finishing with 41 receptions for 749 yards and nine touchdowns.

AU had three additional players named Illini-Badger First-Team All-Conference, senior tight end Nate Fincham, senior defensive back Jerral Davidson and junior offensive lineman Nick Koch. Fincham flourished in the Spartan passing game, finishing the season with career high 24 receptions for 289 yards and two touchdowns. Davidson finished fifth on the AU defense with 39 tackles and had five interceptions, eight pass break-ups and blocked one kick. Koch anchored the Spartan offensive line that allowed Fincham and Folliard the time to get open in the passing game to have the outstanding offensive seasons they had.

Being honored with Illini-Badger Second-Team All-Conference recognition are junior quarterback Drew Hornung, senior linebacker Falton Tate, senior defensive lineman Randy Mosier, senior defensive lineman Kyle Dentino, senior offensive lineman Chase Dooley and senior kick return specialist Kevin Rynne.

Illini-Badger Honorable Mention All-Conference selections include Rynne as a receiver, senior offensive lineman Keith Crot, senior defensive lineman Jack Eckhorn and senior linebacker Sean Carlson.

The Spartans averaged 308.3 yards per game of total offense, 103.4 on the ground, 204.9 through the air, and scored 23.1 points per game in IBFC play, while the defensive unit allowed 17.6 points per game, 294.9 yards of total offense, 167.4 on the ground, and 127.4 through the air.
