Spartan Earns Top Conference Honor

AURORA, Ill. November 3, 2005 - Aurora University men’s soccer player, junior defender Brad Johns (Aurora, lL/West Aurora HS), was named Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference Player of the Week for the week ending October 30, 2005.

For the week, Johns tallied three goals in two games, leading the Spartans to victories over the University of Dubuque (3-0) and Clarke College (3-1). In the win over Dubuque, Johns scored the first two Spartans goals in the second half, the game winner marked the third such goal on the year for Johns. His three goals for the week increased his season total to six goals and he also has one assist.

The Spartans are currently 16-4 on the season entering the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference tournament in which they are the top seed. Next action for Johns and the men’s soccer team comes on Thursday, November 4, 2005, when they host Benedictine University in a NIIC Tournament showdown, game time is set for 2:00 p.m. A victory would put the Spartans in the NIIC tournament championship game, where they would host Concordia University. Championship game time is set for Saturday, November 5, at 9:30 a.m. on AU Field.
