AURORA, Ill. November 3, 2005 - Aurora University men’s soccer player, sophomore defender Andrew Taylor (DeKalb, IL/DeKalb HS) was named to the 2005 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Men’s Soccer Team. The team is selected by the district’s Sports Information Directors.

Taylor, a First-Team selection, is a sophomore political science major and business administration minor at Aurora University. Taylor was the 2004 Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference men’s soccer Newcomer of the Year as well as First-Team All-Conference. As a first-team member, Taylor will go on to represent District V on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America national ballot.

In the 2005 campaign, Taylor has anchored an AU defense that has allowed 22 goals in 20 games, a 1.09 goals against average, while recording eight shutouts as a team. Taylor has one goal and one assist on the season as the Spartans have posted a 16-4 record and the top seed in the upcoming NIIC tournament. Also, the Spartans are ranked 10th in the latest NCAA men’s soccer regional poll, as well as receiving votes in the NSCAA.com Central region poll.

The Academic All-District teams are selected by CoSIDA member Sports Information Directors within the district based on the student-athletes’ academic prowess while being a steady influence on their respective athletic field.
