Spartan Named Top Conference Player

AURORA, Ill. October 27, 2005 - Aurora University football senior defensive back Robbie Parry (Palo Alto, CA/Gunn HS) was named Illini-Badger Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding effort in the Spartans’ 27-7 win over Eureka College.

In the win, Parry picked up two interceptions, returning them 28 yards, while also breaking up two other Red Devil passes. In addition, Parry tallied three and one-half tackles on the afternoon. On the season, Parry has three interceptions, seven pass break-ups and is second on the team with 35-1/2 tackles. He has also blocked two kicks, forced one fumble and recovered one fumble.

The Spartans, led by Parry’s defensive prowess are 4-3 overall and 4-1 in IBFC play. Next action for the Spartan football team comes on Saturday, October 29, 2005, when they travel to Lakeland College for an IBFC showdown. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Sheboygan, WI.
