Spartan Earns Weekly Conference Award

AURORA, Ill. October 19, 2005 - For the second consecutive week, an Aurora University athlete was named Illini-Badger Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Sophomore running back Travis Paro (Watseka, IL/Watseka HS) was honored for his outstanding play in the Spartans’ 48-12 win over Concordia University, IL, on Saturday afternoon on AU Field.

In the win, Paro had 17 rushes for 192 yards and two touchdowns, his yards per carry average was an amazing 11.3 yards. His two touchdowns were on 74- and 69-yard running plays. On the season, Paro has a team-high 60 rushes for 361 yards and two touchdowns. He is averaging 6.0 yards per carry and 60.2 yards per game for the Spartan offensive attack.

The Spartans, led by Paro’s rushing efforts are 3-3 overall and 3-1 in IBFC play. Next action for the Spartan football team comes on Saturday, October 22, 2005, when they travel to Eureka College. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Eureka, IL.
