Spartans Gain NSCAA Regional Ranking

AURORA, Ill. September 15, 2005 - Aurora University men’s soccer team is off to a fantastic start to the 2005 season with a 6-0 overall record. With that stellar mark comes recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. In the latest NSCAA rankings, AU is ranked 10th in the Central region.

The Spartans are led by three players who have tallied three or more goals each during the first six games of the season. Sophomore midfielder Jody Hall (Sugar Grove, Ill./Bartlet HS) leads AU in points with eight and goals with four. Fellow sophomore midfielder Tyler Klotz (Big Rock, Ill./Hinckley-Big Rock HS) has three goals, while freshman striker Chase Corricelli (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame HS) has three goals in his early collegiate career

Senior goalkeeper Jeff Bishop (Norridge, Ill./Harper College) has a 6-0 record with one shutout, 16 saves and has allowed just four goals in six games started.

The next action for the Spartan men’s soccer team comes on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2005, when they travel to Sheboygan, Wis., to take on the Lakeland College. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m (noon).
