Spartan Softball NCAA Tournament Bound
AURORA, Ill. May 10, 2005 - The NCAA Division III softball tournament selection committee announced the seedings for the 2005 NCAA Division III Championships. The Spartans of Aurora University will travel to the Alma Regional hosted by Alma College in Alma, Mich.
Making their first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 1995, the Spartans are the top-seed in the five-team region and will receive a bye before taking on the winner of Game 1 between Edgewood College and Allegheny College on Friday, May 13, 2005, at 2:30 p.m.
The teams that will participate in the Alma Regional are as follows:
The Spartans earned their place in the 2005 NCAA Division III Championships by winning the 2005 Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference tournament and securing the conference’s automatic qualifying bid. AU captured the regular season NIIC title for the second consecutive season and set a school record with its 38 wins, breaking the old mark of 32 set in 1995 and 1991.
