Aurora University museum sets summer hours

AURORA, Ill.—The Schingoethe Center for Native American Cultures at Aurora University has announced summer hours of operation.

Hours during June and July are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The center is closed Sunday, Monday, and Saturday and during the month of August.

The center will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 7 p.m.

The center is in Dunham Hall at 1400 Marseillaise Place in Aurora.

Current exhibits are "Children in Native America," "Skystone and Silver--Jewelry of the Southwest," "Native Peoples of Illinois 1673-1835," "South of the Border—A Shared Heritage," "Lifting Prayer: Sacred Plants and the Schingoethe Pipe Bag Collection," "The Native American Church: Tradition & Adaptation," and the Nizhoni gallery of Kachina dolls.

Admission is a $3 donation for adults and a $1 donation for children under 12.
