Aurora University Chorale To Stage 'American Sampler II' Concert April 25 AURORA, Ill.--"American Sampler II," a concert of choral music and songs from 1875 through 1920, will be performed by the Aurora University Chorale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25, in Crimi Auditorium in the Institute for Collaboration, 405 S. Calumet Ave. in Aurora. The public is invited. Admission is free. Christine Flasch, Chorale director, said, “Sampler II will include some rarely heard choral selections from the American Victorian Period and expressive choral arrangements on texts and poetry from World War I.” The 30 voice-Chorale will present familiar popular songs from The Great War, including "Mademoiselle from Armentire," "O! How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning," "My Buddy," "Look for the Silver Lining." Also planned are great songs from the American Frontier, including "I've been Workin' on the Railroad," "Home on the Range," "Clementine," and others. Joining the Chorale are The Madison Brass in Gay 90's, ragtime and blues selections. Rick Pickren, popular interpreter of great songs of the American West, will partner with the men of the Chorale. The concert concludes AU's 2007-2008 Arts and Ideas Series.
