Developing a Leadership Toolbelt: Business Workshop April 30

AURORA, Ill.— “Developing a Leadership Toolbelt,” a free business workshop, will be presented at Aurora University’s Human Resources Institute from 8 to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, in the University Banquet Hall at Alumni Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place in Aurora.

The public is invited. Networking and refreshments are at 7:30 a.m.

The speaker is Tom Berliner, director of AU’s MBA program and assistant professor of business.

He said, “Leaders have a tendency to rely almost exclusively on their intuitive skills in handling opportunities and problems.

“There is a 'science' component to the leadership equation that needs to be further explored by those expecting to contribute meaningfully to their fields.

“Having a structure for collecting, evaluating and utilizing these tools is an essential step in the process. This brief overview will create a framework for the process,” Berliner said.

Future 2008 HR Institute programs scheduled are:

May 28—Human Capital Planning

June 25—HR Legal Update

Aug. 27—Finance for HR Professionals

Sept. 24—Building a Leadership Development Program

Oct. 29—Caterpillar, Inc. training and development

Nov. 19—Meet Several of Fortune’s Best Employers To Work For

HR Institute co-sponsors are the university’s Dunham School of Business and Human Resource Management Systems, LLC, of Naperville. Call (630) 844-4894 for information.
