Aurora University Students' Golf Outing to Benefit Homeless Shelter April 19

 

AURORA, Ill., March 20, 2008---Aurora University students will hold "Chip-In For Hesed House," a second annual charity golf outing on April 19 at Fox Bend Golf Club, 3516 Rt. 34 in Oswego, to benefit the Aurora-based homeless shelter.

Hesed House is celebrating its 25h anniversary. The outing is a class project for Carol Hammerle's Sports Management course.

The public is invited. Golfers, prize donors, and corporate sponsors are needed.

The outing gets underway with registration from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. A shotgun start is at 1 p.m.

The cost is $100 for the public and $65 for students. Included are green fees, a cart, and dinner. Cost for the dinner only is $20.  There will also be a raffle, silent auction, and other contests.  Awards will be presented for the first-place finishers in men's, women's and coed divisions.

Companies may sponsor a hole or cart.  The cost is $250 for the beverage cart, $150 per hole, and $30 per cart. Deadline for sponsorships and registration is Friday, April 11.
 
Golfers can enter as a foursome. Individual golfers will be assigned to foursomes.
 
In last year's outing, AU students raised $3,700 for Aurora and Plano YMCAs. The Aurora YMCA used its grant for children's programming. The Plano YMCA installed air conditioning in the gymnasium with its grant.
