Aurora University Announces April Events Calendar

AURORA, Ill.-A benefit golf outing, choral concert, and a film screening and discussion are among April events scheduled at Aurora University.

The public is invited.  Events are free unless a fee is indicated.  The schedule is:

April 1: Film, Discussion-"Manufactured Landscapes," a film documenting the impact of civilization on the environment, will be shown at 7 p.m. in Perry Theatre in The Aurora Foundation Center for Community Enrichment, 1305 Kenilworth Place in Aurora. A discussion led by Aurora University biologist Carrie Morjan will follow the screening.  Information: 630-844-5615.

April 2: Open House-An Open House for prospective transfer and adult students will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in Dunham Hall lobby at 1400 Marseillaise Place in Aurora.  Information: 630-844-5533, or admission@aurora.edu.

April 3: Art Show-The eighth annual Aurora University student art show will open with a reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Downstairs Dunham Gallery in Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. The display is free to the public through Sept. 8.  Information: 630-844-7843,

April 5: Open House-An open house for incoming freshmen will begin at 8:45 a.m. in Crimi Auditorium in the Institute for Collaboration at 407 S. Calumet Avenue in Aurora.  Information: 630-844-5533 or admission@aurora.edu.

April 5: Tax Preparation-The Dunham School of Business' 2008 Volunteer Income Tax Preparation program concludes with tax help from 8 to 11 a.m. in Dunham Hall lobby, 1400 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. The income limit is $50,000. Information: 630-844-6895.

April 12: Book Signing-Martin Forward, executive director of the Wackerlin Center for Faith and Action, will sign his latest book, "The Name and Nature of Love: Religion for the Contemporary World," at 10 a.m. in Lowry Chapel in Eckhart Hall, 347 S. Gladstone Ave. in Aurora. Information: 630-844-6885.

April 16: Lecture-"Methodist Spirituality in Charles Wesley's Hymns," a lecture by  Methodist cleric Rev. Dr. John Newton, is from noon to 1 p.m. in Perry Theatre in The Aurora Foundation Center for Community Enrichment, 1305 Kenilworth Place in Aurora. Information: 630-844-5486.

April 17: Open House-An adult and graduate-degree programs open house will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in Perry Theatre in The Aurora Foundation Center for Community Enrichment, 1305 Kenilworth Place in Aurora. Information: 630-844-5294, AUadmission@aurora.edu.

April 18: Honors Convocation-The 2008 Honors Convocation is at 2 p.m. in Crimi Auditorium in the Institute for Collaboration, 407 S. Calumet Ave. in Aurora.  Information: 630-844-5150.

April 19: Golf Fundraiser-"Chip-In For Hesed House," a student-sponsored golf outing to benefit Hesed House homeless shelter in Aurora, will open at 11:30 a.m. at Fox Bend Golf Course in Oswego. Fees are $100, $65 for students and include green fees, a cart, and dinner. Dinner only is $20. Company sponsorships are also available starting at $30.  Awards will be
presented for first-place finishers in each division. Information: 630-844-6181.

April 19: Benefit Run/Walk-"Promise Run for Wellness," a 10K/5K/3K walk or run, will start at 8:30 a.m. at Phillips Park in Aurora.  Proceeds will benefit the Aurora Rotary Club youth programs, Aurora University Nursing Education Program, Robert Crown Center Summer Camp for Kids, and Rush-Copley Foundation. April 24: Research Conference-The fourth annual AU Undergraduate Research Conference is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the University Banquet Hall in Alumni Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. Information: 630-844-5615.

April 25: Chorale Concert-"American Sampler II," a program of post-Civil-War era  music by the University Chorale, is at 7:30 p.m. in Crimi Auditorium in the Institute for Collaboration, 407 S. Calumet Avenue in Aurora. Information: 630-844-5486.

April 26: Financial Aid Seminar-A seminar on college financial aid is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in room 205 in Eckhart Hall, 347 S. Gladstone Ave. in Aurora. Information: 630-844-6190, finaid@aurora.edu.

April 29: Human Resources Workshop-Leadership development will be discussed at the Human Resources Institute from 8 to 9 a.m. in the University Banquet Hall in Alumni Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. Information: 630-844-4894
