St. Paul To Be Explored At Aurora Church April 7

AURORA, Ill. —“Can Anything be Said for St. Paul?” will be discussed at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 7, at New England Congregational Church, 406 W. Galena Blvd. in Aurora.

The program is free to the public in the church’s narthex.

Co-speakers are Martin Forward, executive director of the Wackerlin Center for Faith and Action, and Drew Taylor of DeKalb, an AU senior history and religion major.

Taylor is writing an independent study on St. Paul as part of his AU studies. He will give an introduction and background to Paul, and interpret his views about his religion of Judaism.

Forward will look at Paul’s attitude towards women and his understanding of Jesus. Forward said, “We hope to counter or at least question notions that Paul was anti-Jewish, a misogynist, and someone who unnecessarily complicated the simple message of Jesus.

”The program reprises a presentation by Forward and Taylor in a community forum at AU Feb. 9 to a capacity audience. Persons unable to attend the original session asked that it be repeated.

Call (630) 844-4885 or e-mail adeguria@aurora.edu for information.
