AU Athletes Take Conference Food-Drive Crown
AURORA, Ill.--
Aurora University student-athletes collected 3,513 cans of food to top 12 other Northern Athletics
Conference schools in a “Cans Across the Conference” holiday drive.
Student-athletes collected food and cash donations from AU students, faculty and staff.
Donations will benefit Green Harvest food pantry of Plainfield. Founded in 2001, the organization provides food and personal items to low-income families, the working poor, and those who have recently become unemployed. Clients include residents of Will, Kane, Kendall and DuPage counties.
AU’s Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) sponsored the second annual drive. Oswego resident Maureen Bennett, a track and field athlete and senior athletic training major, led the effort.
By placing first in the collection competition, AU was named host of the spring NAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee meeting.
