Focusing On Client, Social-Worker Relationships; Leading Educator, Author, Speaker To Give Workshop At Aurora University May 18

AURORA, Ill, May 3, 2007 - Aurora University will host “The Client-Worker Relationship in Clinical Social Work Practice: Theoretical and Clinical Perspectives,” a workshop for social work students and professionals, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18.

Eda G. Goldstein, director of the post master’s certificate program in advanced clinical practice at New York University School of Social Work, will present the program in Crimi Auditorium of the Institute for Collaboration at 407 S. Calumet Ave. in Aurora.

Registration deadline is May 11. Fees are $50 for AU students and co-sponsor employees, $90 for AU alumni and field supervisors, and $120 for others.

The workshop is approved for 5.5 continuing education units by AU’s School of Social Work and CSWE. Lunch is included. Co-sponsors are the AU School of Social Work and Center for Adult and Graduate Studies.

An NYU faculty member since 1981, Goldstein teaches courses in clinical practice and contemporary psychodynamic theories. She has directed the Ph.D. program in clinical social work and served as chairperson of the social work practice curriculum area.

Goldstein is co-chairperson of the national study group of the National Membership Committee on Psychoanalysis in Social Work and is a frequent speaker at national programs. An extensively published author, several of her books are used in schools of social work and by social-work practitioners.

Goldstein is a graduate of the University of Chicago college and graduate school of Social Service Administration. She earned a doctorate in social welfare from Columbia University.
