Batter Up!: University slates youth baseball camp Dec. 26-29

AURORA, Ill. December 17, 2006 - Spring training starts Dec. 26 at Aurora University.

Youth ages 8-18 are invited to AU's 15th annual baseball hitting camp Dec. 26-29 in Thornton gym at Alumni Hall at 1410 Marseillaise Place, Aurora.

The schedule is: ages 8-10, 8:15-9:45 a.m.; ages 11-13, 10-11:30 a.m.; and ages 14-18, 1-2:30 p.m.
Campers will use the gym, an indoor batting cage, and other facilities.

Spartan athletic director Mark Walsh directs the camp. His staff includes AU baseball coach Shawn Neitzel, college players, and local high school coaches.

Parents, siblings, and friends are invited to observe.

"This is a chance for youth to sharpen hitting skills before spring training," said Walsh.

"Drills, exercises and instruction will be included. Quality instruction and an enthusiastic approach to teaching the art of hitting are guaranteed," Walsh said.

Fees are $75 for the first camper and $65 for each additional family member. The fee includes instruction, video analysis, and a tee shirt.
