Aurora University to hold Latin American ‘Family Fest’ on Sunday, Dec. 3

AURORA, Ill. November 26, 2006 - Latin music, food, and motivational speakers will highlight a second annual “LASO Family Fest” at Aurora University from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3.

The event is free to the public at the University Banquet Hall at Alumni Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. Co-sponsors are AU’s Latin American Student Organization (LASO) and Office of Student Activities.

The event opens with welcoming remarks by AU officials and refreshments. Music will be provided by Mariachi Ameca of Cicero. Face painting and crafts will be available for children and drawings will be held for door and raffle prizes.

Keynote speakers scheduled are Dr. Santos Rivera, an AU alumnus and senior executive director for affirmative action and outreach initiatives at Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago; Rebecca L. Sherrick, president of AU; David O. Blancas, LASO president; and Maria Romero, St. Charles, parent of an AU student.
