Aurora University Names School Of Social Work Director

AURORA, Ill. November 10, 2006 - Fred McKenzie of St. Charles, associate professor of social work at Aurora University, has been named director of the AU School of Social Work.

McKenzie served as interim director from August to November. He has over 30 years of professional experience in clinical social work, supervision, consultation and administration.

An AU faculty member since 1991, McKenzie earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from George Williams College and a Ph.D. from Loyola University of Chicago.

As School of Social Work director, McKenzie’s duties include planning the strategic direction of the School in collaboration with the University administration and the leaders of the other academic units of the University. He also manages the overall operations of the School, including budgeting, resource allocation, scheduling, and program committee assignments.

Mick Carroll, dean of the College of Professional Studies said, “AU and the School of Social Work are very fortunate to have someone like Fred McKenzie serve as the director of the School of Social Work. Fred brings a very broad and rich social work background to the job.

“This includes both academic and real world experience. He has demonstrated great competency and leadership in all aspects of the field of social work. He brings to the job great energy, enthusiasm, and many ideas to enhance the social work programs to best serve our students.”

McKenzie’s professional memberships and associations include Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the State of Illinois, National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and Academy of Certified Social Workers. Additionally, he is listed in the National Association of Social Workers register, and holds the title of Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from NASW.
