Aurora University Debuts Schooling In Leadership Basics

AURORA, Ill. November 9, 2006 - Aurora University has introduced lessons in leadership.

AU’s Dunham School of Business recently announced an MBA degree in leadership and a graduate certificate in leadership.

“Leadership is essential in the progressively complex business environment of today,” said Mick Carroll, dean of the College of Professional Studies. “AU’s new MBA concentration in leadership and the new graduate certificate in leadership were developed from the changing needs of the business community and leadership expertise of AU’s business faculty.

“The MBA in leadership is designed for working professionals who want to impact the future of their organizations. Designed for professionals with demanding careers, the program develops creative and innovative strategic thinking skills,” Carroll said.

MBA leadership courses are delivered in three alternating weekend workshops meeting on Friday evenings and all day on Saturday. Leadership courses are supplemented by core classes and elective courses that meet weekly for eight weeks. Students can complete the degree program in two years.

The leadership certificate program is designed for persons holding a master’s degree or who are not ready to pursue the MBA degree but desire specialized study in leadership for professional growth. The certificate program requires completion of nine semester hours of graduate credit. A completed graduate course may be applied toward certificate requirements.

Leadership courses are “Innovative Leadership for Challenging Times,” “Creative Strategies for Problem Resolution” and “Creativity and the Process of Innovation.”

Core courses cover strategic management, organizational behavior and leadership, managerial accounting, financial management, and marketing management.

Applications are being accepted for the spring semester starting Jan. 8. Call (630) 844-5294 or email AU admission@aurora.edu.
