Aurora University Sets November Events Lineup

AURORA, Ill. October 20, 2006 - A sales workshop, Native American heritage week, and a fall theatre production highlight November events at Aurora University.

The public is invited. Admission is free unless a fee is indicated. The schedule is:

  • Nov. 3: Sales Workshop. “Customer Relationship Management,” a panel discussion by area sales executives, is sponsored by the AU Sales Institute and the Naperville Chamber of Commerce from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Hilton Hotel, 3003 Corporate West Drive, Lisle.   • Nov. 4: Open House. An information open house for collegebound fall freshmen is at 8:45 a.m. at Crimi Auditorium, Institute for Collaboration, 407 S. Calumet Ave., Aurora. Information: 630-844-5533, admission@aurora.edu.

  • Nov. 6: Art Exhibit. “A Moment in Time,” artworks, books, and prints reflecting frontier history from 1803 to 1890, is on display through March 15.   • Nov. 7: History Lecture. “John Wesley Powell and the Bureau of Ethnology” will be presented by Bill Steinbacher-Kemp, McLean County Museum of History archivist and librarian, at 7 p.m. in the Schingoethe Center for Native American Cultures, Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place, Aurora.   • Nov. 8: Dance Workshop. Ho Chunk tribe members Lance and Annie Tallmadge will teach Native American dances at 2 p.m. in the University Banquet Hall in Alumni Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place, Aurora. Cost: $5 per person. Reservations required. Information: 630-844-7841.
  • Nov. 8: Dinner Program. AU’s Native American Club sponsors a dinner program from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the University Banquet Hall in Alumni Hall, 1410 Marseillaise Place, Aurora.   • Nov. 10: Indian Speaker. Ojibwa Native American Nick Hockings will discuss the madoodooswan, Ojibwa sweat lodge ceremony for healing and cleansing, at 6:30 p.m. in the Schingoethe Center for Native American Cultures in Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place, Aurora.   • Nov. 10, 11, 15-18: Drama Production. “season forgiving,” an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ story “The Seven Poor Travellers,” will be staged by student actors at 7:30 p.m. at the Perry Theatre in the Aurora Foundation Center for Community Enrichment, 1305 Kenilworth Place, Aurora.
