Aurora University invites alums to homecoming October 6-7

AURORA, Ill. September 15, 2006 - Four alumni will receive awards during Aurora University homecoming Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6-7.

Alumni have been selected from across the nation to receive the Distinguished Alumni and Athletic Hall of Fame awards at a Golden Reunion banquet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, at the Aurora Country Club, 1600 Prairie St. in Aurora.

Alumni to be recognized are:

  • Kathleen Buckley of Chicago, an Aurora native and 1978 Aurora College alum, who will receive a Distinguished Alumni award.
  • Frank C. Kiehne of Reading, Pa., a 1947 and 1951 alumnus of George Williams College, will receive a Distinguished Alumni award.
  • Sheila K. (Bullock) Mammosser of Rock Falls, Ill., a 1991 AU alumna, will receive an Athletic Hall of Fame award.
  • Robert P. Gambardella of Colorado Springs, Colo., a 1977 George Williams College alum, will receive an Athletic Hall of Fame award.

Awards will be presented by friends of recipients and university officials. Established in 1956, the Distinguished Alumni award recognizes excellence in career achievement and other criteria.

Events continue on Saturday with an alumni baseball game at 10 a.m. at Stuart Sports Complex on Jericho Road west of Orchard Road; football vs. Concordia University-Wisconsin at 1 p.m. ($4 for adults, $2 students, under 12 free) at AU field, and a classical music recital by cellist Edward K. Moore and pianist Soyoung Kee. The free concert is at 7:30 p.m. in Perry Theatre in the Aurora Foundation Center for Community Enrichment, 1305 Kenilworth Place in Aurora.
