Aurora U. educator selected for education panel

AURORA, Ill. July 26, 2006 - An Aurora University educator has been selected to participate in a panel for an “Education Town Hall Meeting” Saturday, July 29, at East Aurora High School.

Eva Serrano, AU director of school and community partnerships, is among five panelists slated for the meeting from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at East’s auditorium at 500 Tomcat Lane.

The public is invited. Admission is free. Topics are parental leadership and back to school opportunities for families and children in Illinois.

Co-sponsors are the Illinois State Board of Education, the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute, and Univision and Telefutura broadcasting companies of Chicago.

In addition to Serrano, other panelists are Elizabeth Cervantes, MSW, social worker, East Aurora High School; Sunny Chico, president, SPC Consulting; Jesse Ruiz, president, Illinois State Board of Education; and Pamela Taylor, RN, MS, FNP, family nurse practitioner.

Paula Gomez and Enrique Rodriguez, anchor/reporters for Univision Chicago, will moderate the discussion.
