Brown Earns Certification as Professional in Human ResourcesAURORA, Ill. July 18, 2006 - North Aurora resident Susan Brown, assistant director of human resources at Aurora University, recently earned certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR). To become certified, Brown was required to pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate a strong background of professional human resource experience. The certification signifies that Brown possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the body of knowledge in the field. The certification is awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), the credentialing body for human resource professionals. HRCI is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world's largest organization dedicated exclusively to the human resource profession. "Certification as a human resource professional clearly demonstrates a commitment to personal excellence and to the human resource profession," said Susan Meisinger, SPHR, president and CEO of SHRM. HRCI awards two levels of certification: Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Brown joined AU in 1999 in the registrar’s office. In 2000, she was promoted to human resources coordinator and in 2004 she was named assistant director of human resources. She also co-chairs AU’s Human Resources Institute. Brown earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has completed continuing education courses in HR. - END - |
