Aurora U. offers adult accounting-degree program on evenings, Saturdays

AURORA, Ill. July 5, 2006 - Aurora University’s Dunham School of Business has designed a new bachelor’s degree in accounting for adults seeking to change or enhance their business careers.

The degree-completion program features evening and Saturday-morning classes for adults, credit for prior college coursework, and preparation to sit for the CPA exam.

Courses meet weekly for eight weeks except for three classes that meet for 16 weeks. Classes are scheduled to accelerate students’ academic progress while accommodating employment and family responsibilities.

Donna DeSpain, AU dean of adult and graduate studies, said “The Aurora University accounting program is designed to prepare students for careers in profit, nonprofit, and government sectors. Due to government demands for more extensive information, companies and their contract auditors are adding accountants at a record pace.”

A feature of the accounting degree-completion program is an MBA accounting track that prepares students for the Certified Public Accounting exam.

Students who complete the MBA in Accounting gain the 150 hours necessary to sit for the CPA exam.
