7/15/2008
AURORA, Ill.—Aurora University’s Schingeothe Center for Native American Cultures seeks volunteers, called docents, to lead group tours and assist with other activities during the 2008-2009 academic year.
Docent training will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, in the museum in Dunham Hall, 1400 Marseillaise Place in Aurora. Lunch is included.
Meg Bero, center executive director, said “The museum currently has a special need for volunteers as it gears up for the busy fall tour schedule.
“The museum is looking for life-long learners who enjoy interacting with people,” Bero said. “Retired teachers are always welcome. No previous training is necessary.”
Tour groups include elementary through high school students, scout groups, adult and corporate groups and college groups. Tours are conducted Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
For more information, contact Bero at (630) 844-7844 or mbero@aurora.edu , or visit www.aurora.edu/museum .
