Music by the Lake Pavilion — A New Home for 2008

Pavilion Rendering 1The Allyn Pavilion has served Music by the Lake well for the past eight years. Located on the site of the former Lewis Auditorium, the Allyn Pavilion has been essential in our reprisal of the wonderful Geneva Lake tradition of Music by the Lake.

After a great deal of thought and feedback from many of our friends, we finalized plans this past fall for the design of a new summer venue for Music by the Lake. The new design celebrates the beautiful surroundings of the campus and Geneva Lake while increasing the seating capacity. We believe a new pavilion is a critical step in our ability to continue to attract high caliber artists while enhancing the experience of our patrons and performers. Of course, a primary objective in our plans was to ensure that the new design would capture the open-air beauty of the campus and the unique lake setting to continue to provide patrons and artists with a treasured Geneva Lake experience!

Our initial goal was to secure the first phase of funding so that the new pavilion would be ready for the coming summer season. We are pleased to report that donors have responded generously to this project and we already have collected $1.3 million in cash and pledges that has allowed us to move forward. The new venue replaces the current Allyn Pavilion for the 2008 season with a tensile structure in the same footprint that will increase the number of seats under cover and will provide patrons with an improved setting to enjoy concerts. The pavilion features improved lighting, sound, ventilation, staging and an orchestra pit.

We will continue to raise funds for the pavilion project through the coming season with a goal of securing a total of $1.5 million. We hope that you can join us!
