College of Professional Studies
The Dunham School of Business
M.B.A. Welcome
Greetings.
Whether you are a prospective graduate student, current graduate student,
former graduate student or just an inquisitive visitor, I am delighted
to welcome you to Aurora University, to the Dunham School of Business
and, in particular, to the MBA Program.
We have a wonderful program…and we have no intention of resting
on our laurels. There is a great deal of excitement to share about what
exists as well as additional excitement to share about what is about to
be implemented, what is in serious development and what is on the radar
screen. Perhaps you will have things to suggest. I would greatly welcome
your input.
First and foremost, our MBA Program is not about numbers, especially
enrollment numbers. Although we have a very substantial MBA student population,
we are not seeking to grow it in size just for the purpose of doing so.
We ARE, however, seeking to grow it in value and prestige. We want you
to take away a meaningful education, one that you can use in your professional
world. We also want you to take away an MBA credential that opens doors
for you.
In order to do that, we are clear on the fact that you are the customer.
That does not mean that we will compromise either the quality or the integrity
of the program. Quite the opposite. Instead, it means that you want –
and deserve – individualized attention. In effect, you want single
point of contact.
I am that individual.
No, I don’t propose to suggest that I have all the answers. What
I do put forth is that you can speak with me to fully understand the program,
to customize it to your needs and to work with you all through your MBA
educational experience. You can also contact me concerning your questions,
concerns and suggestions. If I cannot give you an immediate answer, I
will either do the necessary research and get back with you or personally
connect you with the person who can address the matter.
Our MBA begins with eight core courses, the same ones for everyone. Those
have been carefully constructed to provide a substantial foundation for
business professionals. In addition to that, each graduate student is
given the option of choosing his/her area of focus. This concentration
allows the student to earn an MBA in six areas:
- General MBA – with which you sample courses across the spectrum
- MBA in Accounting – leading to your earning the coveted CPA
designation
- MBA in Human Resource Management – closely involved with SHRM
(Society of Human Resource Management and its prestigious certifications)
- MBA in Leadership – a relatively new but extremely impacting
concentration in this dynamic area
- MBA in Strategic Sales and Sales Management – focused on professionals
in the field
- MBA in Technology and Operations Management – for individuals
interested in such technical areas as supply chain management.
There are a number of additional features about the program that make
it very unique and allow us to customize it specifically to your background,
needs and interests. Trying to include all the combinations and permutations
would use more space than I have been allotted here. However, I will make
myself available to meet with you individually. If you will contact me,
you and I will find a brief window to discuss the program and your place
in it. I look forward to doing so.
