Department of Mathematics

A student once complained to a music teacher that he did not like Beethoven. The teacher wisely replied that this said more about the student than it did about Beethoven. If you asked twenty different mathematicians what they considered their favorite results in mathematics, you would doubtless get twenty different answers. My choices here probably say more about me than the results themselves, but are among my top choices due to their elegance.
