Ordering Books From Other Libraries Through
Our Library Catalog
- Allow
One to Two Weeks to Receive Your Book(s) -
- Go to the Aurora University Library Catalog link (ILLINET Online/I-SHARE).
- Search by Start of Title for the book you desire (or author), or
do an Advanced Search for your topic. For a Start of Title search,
click on Start of Title, then input the first few significant words
of the title in the Search For box. Do not use articles (the, a, an)
at the beginning of the title (example: The Wind in the Willows
would be typed in the Search For box as Wind in the Willows. The Search
For box is not case-sensitive). In an Advanced Search you would type
your topic on one or more of the search lines (example: women on
the first line, Europe on the second line).
After you do a
search in the Aurora University Library Catalog you may get a message
saying that we do not have the title you want. Then click on Repeat
Search in the I-SHARE. If the title you want is held by one of the
other 64 libraries in our consortium, the record will appear. If more
than one edition, or a similar title, or a like record appears, you
will have to select (click on) the title you want to Request.
- Click
on the title to open the full record for the book. Look at the record
to be sure that this is the item you want (Note:
this must be a book that is not held by the Aurora University
library. Click on the word Request in the toolbar at the top of the
page.
- Log in:
- if location does not display as Aurora University in the
Select Your Home Library box, you must select us from the
drop-down list.
- type in your library patron ID number (2251100 plus
the seven digits of your university ID number that starts with
0 – you
will have fourteen digits in all).
- type in your last name (this field
is not case-sensitive).
- Note: If you have problems
with the login, be sure that you typed your patron ID number correctly.
If the login still doesn’t
work contact the library (630/844-5437 or the ITS Department at 630/844-5790).
- The next screen will notify you that you are logged-in and whether
your Request can be processed. Click on OK to Request the First Available
Item and to proceed to the next screen.
- On the next screen, input your
Library Patron ID one more time (2251100-------), in the space provided.
Click on Submit at the bottom of the screen.
- The next screen will indicate
that your request was placed successfully.
- At this point you may view
your Account (My Account), since you are already logged in. Or you
may Logout. If you view your Account, you can see that your Request
is in process and from which library it will be coming.
In My Account you may also see your Account activity and Renew items
that you have checked out.
