Aurora University is a private, independent, comprehensive institution founded in 1893 offering Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees and committed to educating students for the greater good. Our two campuses are located in Aurora, Illinois, 40 miles west of Chicago, and on the shores of Geneva Lake in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. We are looking for talented assistant professors to join us in Fall of 2010. Experienced faculty applying at the associate rank may be considered.

UNDERGRADUATE FACULTY: As a private institution, Aurora University expects faculty to be involved in the lives of students through mentoring, student support, enrollment initiatives, and other activities relating to the college experience. Ph.D. and evidence of successful teaching or a strong potential for successful teaching are required unless otherwise specified. Undergraduate faculty are generally expected to contribute to the interdisciplinary general education program, and, when appropriate, the university honors program.

GRADUATE FACULTY: Graduate programs at Aurora University emphasize professional preparation. As such, preference will be given to candidates with professional experience in their field along with teaching expertise. An appropriate level of scholarly productivity and advising of graduate students also are expected. Ph.D. and evidence of successful teaching or a strong potential for successful teaching are required unless otherwise specified.

ELEMENTARY EDUCATION: Tenure Track Assistant Professor.  Teach undergraduate courses in elementary education, including methods courses. Skills developing curriculum in elementary education at the collegiate level is desired as well as a strong desire to prepare quality teachers.  A minimum of five years of teaching experience in the K-8 field is also required.

ENGLISH:  Tenure Track Assistant Professor. Teach undergraduate courses in first year composition and general surveys of literature and literary genres.  Specializations in world and/or ethnic literatures, linguistics, or advanced composition are also desirable. Experience in teaching entry level college students the ability to write and do research at the collegiate level is required.

ENVIRONMENTAL/GENERAL SCIENCE: Tenure Track Assistant Professor.  Teach primarily undergraduate courses in environmental science and other general science courses. Experience in teaching and research is required. Knowledge in the growing field of sustainability is highly recommended.
