Aurora University is a private, independent, comprehensive institution founded in 1893 offering Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees and committed to helping students identify what matters and build their lives around it. We serve over 4000 undergraduate and graduate students on our two campuses, which are located in Aurora, Illinois, 40 miles west of Chicago, and on the shores of Geneva Lake in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. Additionally, we have an Education Center in Woodstock IL. All positions listed here are located at the Aurora, IL campus.
We seek talented faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning and who will help us realize our vision. As a private institution, Aurora University expects faculty to be involved in the lives of students through mentoring, student support, enrollment initiatives, and other activities relating to the college experience. Evidence of successful teaching or a strong potential for successful teaching, including teaching in the classroom and online are required for all positions. While all of these positions are on-ground teaching (unless otherwise specified), experience with online teaching and learning is a plus. Undergraduate faculty are generally expected to contribute to the general education program.
Applied Behavior Analysis: Tenure or Clinical Track Associate Professor and Department Chair – Doctorate in Applied Behavior Analysis or related field is required. The successful candidate will lead this new ABA program and assist dean with strategic planning, curriculum and personnel development and oversight, and student recruitment. The successful candidate will teach onground and online Master’s courses with an emphasis on individuals on the autism spectrum. All faculty will supervise student research and internships, and contribute to the service needs of the department and university. Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA), minimum of five years full-time college-level faculty experience required. Administrative experience preferred.
Applied Behavior Analysis: Tenure or Clinical Track Assistant Professor – Doctorate in Applied Behavior Analysis or related field required (ABDs who will complete the degree prior to the fall, 2013 semester also considered). Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA) preferred. Prior graduate teaching experience preferred. The successful candidate will teach Master’s courses with an emphasis on individuals on the autism spectrum. In addition to teaching, applicants will supervise student research and internships, and contribute to the service needs of the department and university.
Art: Tenure Track Assistant Professor. Terminal degree (doctorate or MFA) required. Teach undergraduate courses in two-dimensional design, painting, drawing, art appreciation as well as advise student projects and teach general education courses. Background in other areas such as photography, sculpture, museum studies is desirable. Teaching experience and a strong record of teaching excellence is desirable.
Biology: Tenure Track Assistant Professor. Doctorate in Biology or related field is required. Teach undergraduate courses in Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry, other introductory courses for biology majors and general education science courses. Teaching experience and a strong record of teaching excellence is desirable.
Computer Science: Tenure of Clinical Track Assistant Professor. Doctorate in Computer Science or related field required for tenure track. Master’s degree plus significant, current, and relevant industry experience required for clinical track. Teach programming courses in Java, C++, database systems, operating systems, and other advanced courses in our undergraduate program. Teaching experience is desirable.
Education, Graduate Education: One-year Visiting Assistant Professor. Doctorate in education or related field required. The successful candidate will be qualified to recruit, teach and advise graduate students who are preparing for careers in teaching and educational leadership. The preferred candidate will have successful K-12 leadership experience.
Mathematics: Tenure Track Assistant Professor. Doctorate in mathematics or related field required. Teach mathematics undergraduate courses in the mathematics major, service and general education courses, and graduate courses (master’s level) such as abstract algebra and real analysis. Ability to teach mathematics methods and mathematics education courses is desirable.
Nursing: Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor. Doctorate in nursing or related field required. Rank is commensurate with teaching experience. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in CCNE accredited nursing program and participate in recruitment and professional development of nursing students. Specialization is open.
Physical Education: Tenure or Clinical Track Assistant Professor. Doctorate in Physical Education or related field required. Familiarity with Illinois K-12 certification in physical education and familiarity with Livetext also required. Teach and mentor undergraduate students preparing for teaching careers in K-12 physical education. In addition to teaching, the assignment will include coordinating the K-12 certification program, program assessment and evaluation; and working collaboratively with the College of Education.
Social Work: Tenure or Clinical Track Assistant Professor. Doctorate in social work or related field required for tenure-track position. A master’s degree in social work and extensive experience in the Health Care field required for clinical track position. Teach in the BSW and MSW programs, as well as lead the new Health Care specialization in the school. The Health Care specialization is the newest of several cutting edge specializations in the School of Social Work.
Special Education: One-year visiting Assistant Professor. Master’s degree in special education required, doctorate preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong special education foundation in theory/research and practice. Recruitment, teaching, and advisement are important components as this position involves both undergraduate and graduate students.
Dunham School of Business
Donald Kieso Professor of Accountancy. Named in honor of Aurora University alumnus and renowned accountancy professor and author Donald Kieso, the Kieso Professor will be a gifted educator with an established record of excellence in teaching accountancy. This position will be ranked at the associate or full-professor level, commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. The Kieso Professor will have expertise in the teaching of financial accounting, managerial auditing, and taxation and will possess an earned doctorate in accountancy or a closely related field.
Accountancy: Tenure or Clinical Track Assistant Professor. Doctorate required in accountancy or related field for tenure track position. MBA and CPA plus relevant industry experience required for clinical track position. Teach accounting at both the undergraduate and master’s level in one or more of the following areas: financial, managerial auditing and taxation.
Actuarial Science: Tenure or Clinical Track Assistant Professor. Doctorate in actuarial science or related field required for tenure track position. Master’s degree and significant actuarial experience required for clinical track position. Teach actuarial science courses, supervise internships, prepare students for actuarial examinations and teach other undergraduate courses as appropriate.
Business Administration/Management: Tenure or Clinical Track Assistant Professor. Doctorate in business or related field required for tenure track position. Master’s degree and significant business management experience required for clinical track position. The successful candidate will be able to teach a variety of management courses including organizational management and human resource management.
Management Information Systems: Tenure or Clinical Track Assistant Professor. Doctorate in management information systems or related field required for tenure track position. Master’s degree and significant MIT experience required for clinical track position. The successful candidate will be able to teach a variety of management information system courses to include data management, web design, web development, information security and systems analysis at both the undergraduate and Masters' levels.
Marketing: Tenure or Clinical Track: Doctorate in Marketing or related field required for tenure track position. Master’s degree and significant marketing experience required for clinical track position. Successful candidate will be able to teach a variety of marketing courses including interactive marketing.
