Director of Facilities Management at George Williams College of Aurora University

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Facilities Management at GWC serves as liaison between George Williams College of Aurora University and Sodexo Services. Insures the oversight of contracted services of the care and upkeep of all physical facilities at the George Williams College campus in a timely basis with regular inspection of facilities and grounds. The George Williams College campus is located in Williams Bay, WI, on the shores of Geneva Lake.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represents Aurora University in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve. Interacts effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and other customers of our service. Learns and uses operating practices of the department and Aurora University.
- Upholds the Mission Statement: Aurora University an inclusive community dedicated to the transformative power of learning.
- Handles confidential information with tact and discretion.
- Serves as liaison between George Williams College of Aurora University and Sodexo Services contact.
- Insures the oversight of contracted services in a timely basis making regular inspection of facilities and grounds to identify and insure repairs and improvements meet or exceed University standards. Provides general management that includes facilities maintenance, grounds upkeep, and housekeeping.
- Supervises and directs work and communicates to appropriate GWC administrations, staff or Sodexo contact.
- Coordinates with the Senior Vice President of GWC, The Vice President for Administration, the Sodexo Area Manager and GWC Sodexo Assistant Manager with respect to facilities maintenance and repair, housekeeping services and landscaping. Communicates regularly with the SVP, the VP for Administration, the Sodexo Area Manager and Assistant Manager advocating Aurora University's interests.
- Insures compliance with regulatory requirements, emergency preparedness as it relates to facilities and services.
- Coordinates the campus in the event of campus emergencies.
- In cooperation with the SVP for GWC and the VP for Administration, develops annual operating budget and assists with oversight of department expenditures.
- Monitors institutional compliance under applicable state and federal regulations such as but not limited to OSHA, etc.
- Maintains inventories of physical assets for insurance reporting and depreciation accounting.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- BA/BS degree in related field or significant experience preferred. Related fields of particular interest are facilities management and construction management.
- Five to seven years significant managerial/supervisory experience.
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) training and experience implementing appropriate procedures and programs preferred.
- Ability to respond in person to campus needs/emergencies within a reasonable time period.
- Ability to consistently demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, both in person and on the telephone. Ability to work effectively as a member of a staff where cooperation and teamwork are essential. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in a manner that will reflect positively on the university.
- Ability to prepare reports which are accurate, concise yet thorough, and professionally formatted.
- Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments.
- Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow and operating procedures.
- Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.
- Hospitality or services background helpful.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed with some weekends and evenings required.
- Ability to climb stairs and move about campus on hilly terrain in clement and inclement weather.
