Topics covered include atomic structure, chemical bonding, radioactivity, behavior of gases and solutions, acid and bases, hydrocarbons, functional groups and important biological molecules. Includes laboratory activities. This course will be taught as an online course but will offer optional one day discussion and office hours each week. Online office hrs will be established on the first day after meeting with the students. The lab supplies will be provided by Hands-on Labs Inc (www.labpaq.com) and can be done at home. Students will have the option of conducting the experiments in a Stephens chemistry lab if they are uncomfortable of conducting at home. All the assignments (homework, lab reports, written assignments) will be submitted on moodle. Exams and quizzes will also be online. Additional technology fee may be assessed. Course fee: $190|
