Values Council

Mission Statement | Faith and Action

Mission Statement

The mission of the Values Council is to encourage students to participate in intelligent dialogue about ‘valuable’ issues. This program is designed to promote the “transformative power of learning” which lies at the core of the university’s ideology. Through the Values Council, which is an important part of the Center for Faith and Action, students not only explore the opinions and views of their peers, but also learn to investigate the implications of their own presuppositions and convictions. Members of the Values Council find real cooperative value in talking something through and investigating different viewpoints, as 'valuable' things are not always black and white. They often concern themselves with these “shades of grey” in discussion.

Faith and Action

Since its inception, the VC has attended various cultural events, visited local worship sites, traveled internationally, and has even been invited to lead discussions with business leaders. The Values Council provides interested and motivated students with opportunities for education and growth outside of the classroom.
