THE1200 Introduction to Theatre (3 semester hours)
A survey of the theatre from ancient to modern times with an emphasis on the literature, the components (design, acting, directing, play writing, architecture, technical), and its relationship with its audience.
No prerequisites

THE2250 Oral Interpretation of Literature (3 semester hours)
A performance-based course using nondramatic literature (poetry, fiction, non-fiction) as a starting point. Students analyze and perform short solo, duo, and group pieces of literature as assigned by the instructor.
No prerequisites

THE2540 Acting (3 semester hours)
A workshop emphasizing how to read a play, how to develop a character for performance, and the rehearsal process. Students also learn stage terminology, character analysis, discipline, and the importance of interaction with the script, with other actors, and with the audience.

THE3550 Dramatic Literature (3 semester hours)
A study of major writers' works in the theatre. A selection of plays by major writers from a variety of periods and traditions is read, examined, and discussed.
