Bachelor of Arts
The computer science/business information systems option of the computer science major is the ideal program for students who are interested in applying a knowledge of computer science to the problems of business. We find ourselves in a world where there are increasing demands for more information systems and for broader application of the information systems technology. Because of the tremendous impact of computers on individuals, organizations, and society at large, persons with experience and education in computer science and data processing are needed. Individuals who have a good background in another field in addition to a broad general knowledge of computers and who know how to apply computers to that field are especially desired.
This program helps prepare students for positions involving organizational information systems; for careers as systems analysts or programmer-analysts in a business environment; as managers of computing centers or activities within a computer center; and for graduate study in management information science, business administration, or related disciplines.
