Undergraduate Catalog 2001-2003: Programs

Major in Biology

Bachelor of Science
TRACK IV: Health Science, BS
(Pre-physical therapy, pre-dental, pre-medical, pre-veterinary, and allied health programs)

The health sciences offer a wide range of career opportunities for those interested in the health profession, with a spectrum of over 200 possibilities from medical doctor to home health aide.

Study for these professions provides an important application of scientific skills. If you are interested in obtaining a BS degree in health science, please consider the following facts carefully before beginning your pre-professional training. It is increasingly difficult to be admitted into some professional schools (medical, dental, veterinary) because of their high standards and the strong competition. The health science program at Aurora University is designed to give the student maximum training and exposure. However, a program can only be as strong as its participants. Only mature, committed individuals are encouraged to pursue such careers.

The course sequence stresses strong scientific abilities. These include calculus, physiology, and a good chemistry foundation. Research opportunities are available for students at the junior-senior level.
