Comparative study of various major world religions and their world views, values, and behaviors; the importance of these elements in the shaping of cultures in history.

REL107 Exploring Judaism 1 or (3 semester hours)
An introduction to the historic and current beliefs and practices of Judaism; considers the Jewish people individually and socially.

REL108 Exploring Islam 1 or (3 semester hours)
An introduction to the historic and current beliefs and practices of the Muslim faith; the importance of Islam.

REL110 Exploring Christianity 1 or (3 semester hours)
An introduction to Christianity: the academic study, contemporary expressions, and personal understanding of the Christian faith.

REL120 Old Testament (3 semester hours)
An investigation of the Hebrew Bible; the historical development of the Hebrew people, their literature in its diverse forms, the main themes of their faith, and how these views relate to Judaism and New Testament Christianity.

REL130 New Testament (3 semester hours)
Study of the social, political, and cultural movements of the first century A.D. in Palestine and the Greco-Roman World; the language, literature, and message of the New Testament; and the nature of the Christian community that grew out of that environment.
