ART100 Art Appreciation (3 semester hours)
Designed to encourage an understanding and appreciation of the visual arts through a study of their theory, history, and mechanics. Includes a survey of the major developments in the visual arts, and their respective aesthetic criteria, from Classical Greece to the present.
No prerequisites

ART111 Basic Drawing (3 semester hours)
An introduction to the techniques of drawing with emphasis on representation and pictorial composition.
No prerequisites

ART112 Drawing II (3 semester hours)
Further study of representation and pictorial composition in conjunction with experimentation with the various drawing media.
Prerequisites: ART111 or portfolio review.

ART121 Two-Dimensional Design (3 semester hours)
Introductory course that examines, manipulates, and critically evaluates the visual and conceptual properties of two-dimensional art. Designed to heighten aesthetic appreciation and serve as an introduction for those who wish further study of painting, drawing, or graphic design.

ART131 Three-Dimensional Design (3 semester hours)
Introductory course that examines, manipulates, and critically evaluates the visual and conceptual properties of three-dimensional art. Designed to heighten aesthetic appreciation and serve as an introduction for those who wish further study of three-dimensional design or sculpture.
No prerequisites

ART251 Introduction to Painting (3 semester hours)
Brings together the disciplines of drawing, design, color theory, and painting technique to help students learn to manipulate the tools and materials of this area of study.
Prerequisites: ART111 and/or ART121 recommended.

ART252 Painting II (3 semester hours)
Continues the involvement with painting media in wider range of uses and forms of expression. Individual experimentation and directions are encouraged.
Prerequisites: ART251 or portfolio review.

ART261 Introduction to Sculpture (3 semester hours)
An introduction to some of the basic sculptural techniques and media as applied to the visual and conceptual properties of three dimensional art.
Prerequisite: ART131 recommended.

ART/COM267 Introduction to Photography (3 semester hours)
Introduction to the history, technology, and aesthetics of photography, together with laboratory instruction covering basic camera and darkroom technique in black and white; camera handling, composition, sensitometry, developing, and enlarging. Students must have use of an adjustable 35mm camera and are responsible for personal supplies of film and paper. When taken as a 1 or 2 semester hour course, students attend lecture/discussion in history, aesthetics, and technology of photography, but not the laboratory sessions. (This course may be offered for differential credit under special arrangements established by the University.)

ART311 Drawing III (3 semester hours)
Further study of representation, pictorial composition, and expression utilizing selected drawing media.
Prerequisites: ART112, ART121, or portfolio review.

ART312 Drawing IV (3 semester hours)
Further intensive experimentation with selected drawing media.
Prerequisite: ART311.

ART351 Painting III (3 semester hours)
Emphasizes the continued growth of a unique individual approach toward painting.
Prerequisites: ART111, ART121, ART252, or portfolio review.

ART/COM360 Media Technology f (r )
Instructional/Corporate Settings 3 semester hours
This course is intended to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess and implement media technologies appropriate to teaching, learning and communication. Emphasis is on applying concepts of design, communication and learning as integral parts of multi-media presentations. Attention will be given to assessing learner attributes, instructional objectives, and media capabilities.

ART451 Painting IV (3 semester hours)
Continued investigation of a personal approach to painting that seeks to develop in a student a more professional attitude toward one's own painting and materials.
Prerequisite: ART351.
